Presentation of the "Pearls of Bioequivalence Award" at the GBHI conference in Amsterdam

The Frankfurt Foundation Quality of Medicines (FFQM) and the European Federation for Pharmaceutical Sciences (EUFEPS) honor outstanding contributions to the optimization of concept, design and evaluation of bioequivalence with the „Pearls of Bioequivalence Award“. The decision on the winners is made jointly by the two organizations on the basis of proposals from the steering committee of the EUFEPS Biopharmaceuticals and Bioavailability Network.

The award ceremony for both 2022 and 2021, which had to be postponed due to COVID restrictions, took place at the Global Bioequivalence Harmonization Initiative (GBHI) conference on September 28 in Amsterdam.

The certificates were presented jointly by Prof. Dr. Erem Bilensoy, Hacettepe University, Ankara/Turkey, former President of EUFEPS and current Chair of the EUFEPS Network Bioavailability & Biopharmaceutics, and Prof. Henning Blume, Chair of the Board of FFQM, to the award winners Prof. Marival Bermejo and Dr. Eduard Molins.

Prof. Dr. Maria del Val Bermejo Sanz, Universitat Miquel Hernández de Elche, received the 2021 award for her work „Exploring Bioequivalence of Dexketoprofen Trometamol Drug Products with the Gastrointestinal Simulator (GIS) and Precipitation Pathways Analyses“.

For his work „An iterative method to protect the type I error rate in bioequivalence studies under two-stage adaptive 2×2 crossover designs“ Dr. Eduard Molins, Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, was awarded the 2022 prize.
